Tribunal de-seats PML-N MPA

BUREWALA
The Election Tribunal Multan on Tuesday disqualified PML-N MPA Muhammad Yousaf Kaseliya and directed the Election Commission to hold re-election in the PP-232 within 90 days.
In a short order, the Election Tribunal headed by Rana Zahid Hussain declared the election of Yousaf Kaseliya void under the Representation of People’s Act after hearing a petition filed by former provincial minister and rival candidate Pir Ghulam Mohiuddin Chishti. The petitioner had challenged Muhammad Yousaf Kaseliya election as MPA on charges of excessive use of funds during the election campaign and rigging. The judge declared the constituency vacant, and directed the ECP to hold fresh election in the constituency. The tribunal observed that any aggrieved party could file appeal in the Supreme Court against this decision within 30 days.
It is to be noted that Muhammad Yousaf Kaseliya was elected MPA as an independent candidate against the PML-N ticket-holder Pir Ghulam Mohiuddin Chishti and later joined the party.
