Mengal's Quetta residence attacked

QUETTA  - Unidentified miscreants attacked Balochistan National Party-Mengal chief Sardar Akhtar Mengal’s Quetta residence with hand grenades late on Saturday night, police said.
Mengal was not present at the house when two unidentified men on a motorcycle lobbed two hand grenades at his residence located in Railways Housing Society. But sources said party’s central committee was scheduled to meet on Sunday (today) and that the grenade attack might have been carried out to disrupt that meeting.  Police said the grenades went off with a huge bang damaging the house partially and shattering the windowpanes.
But luckily no causality was reported. Soon after the explosion, police and other law-enforcement agencies rushed and cordoned off the area. There was no immediate claim about the responsibility for the attack.
BNP-M leader Abdul Rauf Mengal condemned the attack, and said it was the responsibility of the government to ensure security of the people and politicians. “A member of Balochistan Assembly is not safe, let alone the common man,” he regretted as he resolved to launch a strong protest against the grenade attack.  Balochistan Chief Minister Dr Abdul Malik Baloch also flayed the attack, and ordered the administration to ensure security to Sardar Mengal.  A case has been registered against the unidentified attackers and investigations are in an advanced stage.
