Pak-China defence, security talks end

BEIJING - China and Pakistan enjoy absolute harmony of thinking on all areas of defence and security cooperation and both countries are on the same page, said General Khalid Shameem Wynne, Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee on Saturday.
He expressed these views while talking to the media persons here on the conclusion of the 10th round of defence and security talks between China and Pakistan.
The China-Pakistan Defence and Security talks are held annually and alternately in China and Pakistan.
General Wynne said that during the consultations, his delegation had exceedingly fruitful discussions with his Chinese side led by Fang Fenghui, Chief of General Staff of the People’s Liberation Army.
The discussions focused on review of strategic situation in the region and beyond, joint military training programmes and defense equipment procurement prospects, he added. Talking about China-Pakistan economic corridor, he said that the project was an exemplary and a well thought out endeavour.
General Wynne also mentioned that the Karakoram Highway (KKH) upgradation will further enhance connectivity between the two countries. Answering a question about JF17 Thunder aircraft’s prospects, he said that the jet was the mainstay of the air force and it offered promising export potential.
Ambassador Masood Khalid was also present on the occasion.
