320-kg dead animal meat seized

A joint team comprising officials of the Livestock and Agriculture departments, flanked by police men yesterday seized 320 kg of dead animal meat.
The raiding team also arrested two butchers on Monday. The team led by veterinary Doctor Kashif and the District Officer (Agriculture) got a tip-off that butchers - Zaheer and Ramzan were transporting dead animal meat, weighing 320 kg, through a van to Lahore from Narang Mandi. The officials intercepted the van and arrested both the butchers. The team also recovered the meat from the van. The Muridke Saddr police have registered a case against the butchers on the order of DCO Kiran Khursheed.

15 donkeys found slaughtered; hides stolen

Unidentified persons slaughtered 15 donkeys and took away their hides, leaving behind other remains on Monday.
According to the Sambrial police, some unidentified culprits had stolen the donkeys from different villages of Sambrial tehsil. They slaughtered the stolen donkeys in local fields near villages Bhoplawala and took away hide, leaving behind meat of these donkeys.
The police feared that meat of these donkeys might have been supplied to local hotels and restaurants in Sambrial, Daska, Wazirabad, Gujranwala and Sialkot. The clueless police have started investigation.
