Govt resorts to carrot and stick approach

MULTAN- The Education Department has issued show cause notices to the heads of the public sector schools that have produced 50 percent or below result in the recent 9th class and matriculation examinations.
EDO Education Ashfaq Gujjar disclosed on Wednesday that the show cause notices had been issued to the headmasters, headmistresses and teachers while five head teachers had so far been summoned to submit their reply on the notices. He added that the heads and teachers of schools with good results had also been issued commendation certificates.
He said that the education department had evolved a new policy to improve the performance of public schools and the implementation of the policy had begun with the issuance of show cause notices. He said that no nation could make progress without literacy and therefore no negligence on part of school heads would be tolerated. He said that steps were being taken to improve the standard of government schools with a view to increasing the enrolment.
He further revealed that all DOs, Deputy Dos and AEOs had been issued instruction to carry out surprise visits to educational institutions daily and submit their reports on basis of attendance of students and teachers, security arrangements, cleanliness and dengue prevention measures. He declared that the transfers would only be made in light of Transfer Policy 2016 and no pressure would be accepted in this regard.
