Pakistan not facing isolation: Aziz

ISLAMABAD - Adviser to Prime Minister on Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz has dispelled the impression that Pakistan is increasingly facing isolation in the global community.

Talking to BBC on Wednesday, he said the scenario where new blocks are being formed in the world, Pakistan is standing at the right place. “What is happening today is just a propaganda,” he added. Aziz said Pakistan was enjoying friendly and cordial ties with China, Russia and other Middle Eastern countries.

About Kashmir he said, “Kashmir dispute has to be settled by Kashmiris. The people who are ready to give their blood for freedom cannot be suppressed.” He said in the backdrop of the civil wars going on in the Middle Eastern countries and withdrawal of most of the troops from Afghanistan, the US was changing its policies.

“In these circumstances, the US is paying its attention towards Asia as its focal point.” He was of the view that US policy was aimed at diluting China’s influence in the region. And obviously India was more suitable to the US in this connection. The cooperation between India and the US was increasing. Defence pacts have been signed between both the countries and, according to Aziz, the two countries were making a strategic partnership

He said the whole world knew how many sacrifices Pakistan had given in the war on terror. No country in the world could achieve so many successes. But, he said, India wanted that Pakistan should not get the credit of that. He said terrorism was growing in the world except in Pakistan. He was of the view that statements given by Jon Kerry in India was not bringing bad named to Pakistan. He said for the purpose of peace in the region, Pakistan was taking action against militants slowly and graduate.
