MULTAN - The government has decided to deploy army at all sensitive polling stations. The decision is taken in view of increasing demand from different walks of life, asking the government to ensure free, fair and transparent elections.
Meanwhile, officiating Commissioner Multan division Nasim Sadiq declared on Monday that foolproof security would be ensured during general elections to ensure the polling transparent. addressing a meeting held to review security plans for the election day, he added that strict action would be taken in case of firing, provocative speeches or installation of banners violating the size restrictions imposed by the election commission. He declared that the ECP and its staff would fully be facilitated for the training of election staff.
He said that there would be strict ban on public meetings without prior permission, wall chalking and printing of hate material. He said that police would be responsible for making security arrangements for the candidates and to make the election process peaceful. He said that the district administration would fix the spots for public meetings with a view to avert any untoward situation.  He declared that a central control room was also set up by the district administration to keep the masses informed on election-related news.
Briefing the meeting, Regional Police Officer (RPO) Amir Zulfiqar Khan said that Pak Army would be deployed at sensitive polling stations while special steps are being adopted to ensure the protection of candidates. He directed all District Police Officers of Multan Range to keep vigilant eye on trouble-makers in sensitive constituencies and launch crackdown on proclaimed offenders.
