SRINAGAR : Complete shutdown will be observed on Saturday (today) in Indian-occupied Kashmir against the Indian government’s move to make Kausarnag in Kulgam area as another Hindu pilgrimage destination in the territory. The shutdown call has been given by the veteran Hurriyat leader, Syed Ali Gilani and senior leader of Hurriyat Conference Jammu and Kashmir, Shabbir Ahmed Shah. They said the extremists in India were hell bent upon disrupting the communal harmony in Indian-occupied Kashmir. The informed sources in Srinagar said Kausarnag had never been used as Hindu pilgrimage and converting it into a Hindu sacred destination was part of India’s conspiracy to present Jammu and Kashmir to the world as a holy place for Hindu community. Meanwhile, Indian police used brutal force against the peaceful demonstrators who were protesting in Aharbal area of Kulgam against Kausarnag pilgrimage. Several protesters were injured in the police action while many others were arrested. This news was published in The Nation newspaper. Read complete newspaper of 02-Aug-2014 here.
