LAHORE: A rape victim girl attempted to commit suicide through self-immolation on Tuesday for not being provided justice and delaying tactics of police.

Saima, hailing from Arifwala was gang raped and despite repeated petitions and notice of higher authorities, police failed to detained the culprits. The disappointed girl set herself on fire by sprinkling petrol outside Punjab Assembly in the provincial capital Lahore.

The people present near the scene foiled the suicide attempt and she was shifted to hospital. The victim girl alleged that police was intentionally using delaying tactics to arrest the influential culprits as they have accepted huge sum of money for protecting them in the said case.
