TI report credits NH&M Police

SHEIKHUPURA - The Transparency International (TI), in its report, has termed the Motorway Police as a corruption free department in Pakistan and its working at par with international standard.
Inspector General of National Highway& Motorway Police (NH&MP) Zafar Abbas Lak stated this while talking to this scribe on Friday. He elaborated that in this connection a delegation of Asian Development Bank during a tour regarding Central Asia Regional Cooperation Programme visited the IG NH&MP office. The delegation, led by ADB Transport Planner John Standing Ford, discussed the transport related issue including road safety problems. On the occasion the IG told the delegation that the NH&MP already had established road safety training institutes in major cities of the country including Sheikhupura to cope with rising road accidents. The NH&MP IG informed this scribe that the delegation had expressed satisfaction over the safety standards and appreciated the motorway police performance.
Family, biker robbed of cash, valuables: A family was deprived of cash, cellphones and other valuables here in the jurisdiction of Muridke Saddr Police while a youth was robbed of a motorcycle in the Narang Mandi Police precinct here on Friday.
According to detail, Muhammad Suleman along with his family was on the way back home in his car. When he reached near Ravi Rayan on GT Road in the remit of Muridke Saddr Police, three unidentified armed dacoits stopped him at gun point. The outlaws snatched cash amounting to Rs70,000, cellphones and other valuables in broad daylight. In another incident, Abdul Sattar was deprived of his band new motorcycle, cash and cellphone.
