| Peace in South Asia linked with resolution of Kashmir issue, says Fazl

ISLAMABAD - Pakistan on Sunday warned India that without resolution of Kashmir issue New Delhi would not be able to secure a seat at the United Nations Security Council.
“India cannot become part of the UN Security Council until it fulfils pledges made by Nehru,” Information Minister Pervaiz Rashid said this while addressing a seminar held in connection with Kashmir Solidarity Day here in Islamabad, which was attended by leaders from various political parties.
India under Prime Minister Narinder Modi-led government has geared up its lobbying to secure important seat at UN Security Council which got support even from United Stated Present Obama triggering swear criticism from Pakistan which said it would change balance of power in the region. The information minister urged India to fulfill its former prime minister Jawaharlal Nehru’s promise to hold a referendum in Kashmir.
Pervaiz said that peace in South Asia in the long run would be established after the resolution of Kashmir dispute. He said a just solution of Kashmir issue would help bring prosperity to the region adding that it would also help in fighting illiteracy and poverty.
At the same time Rashid reiterated that Pakistan would continue to extend diplomatic, political and moral support to the people of Kashmir in their struggle for self-determination.
The picturesque Himalayan region is divided between Pakistan and India and has been the scene of two wars between the countries. Tens of thousands of people, mostly civilians, have died in violence between Indian security forces and rebels fighting for Kashmir’s independence or for its merger with Pakistan.
APP adds: Peace in South Asia is linked with good relation of Pakistan and India, which is not possible without resolving the Kashmir issue. Chairman Kashmir Committee and Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-F Chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman said this at a seminar held here on Sunday regarding the ‘Kashmir Day,’ which is held every year on February 5 for supporting the cause of resolving the Kashmir dispute.  He said that Kashmiris were sacrificing for their right to self- determination, adding, that Pakistan stands united with the people of Kashmir for resolving the issue as per their aspirations.
He also criticised the international community for their discriminatory attitude towards the Kashmir dispute.  
Fazlur Rehman said that the whole world recognised the issue of Kashmir as a dispute. He said India contradicts with the resolutions of United Nations Security Council on the issue of Kashmir.  
President All Jammu & Kashmir Muslim Conference, Sardar Attique Ahmed Khan said that Kashmir Freedom Movement had entered a new phase after election in India.  He said, “We believe in dialogue for resolving the issue of Kashmir.”
Ex-Prime Minister AJK, Sardar Muhammad Yaqub Khan, said on the occasion that such seminars give a strong message to the world community regarding basic rights of Kashmiris.  
President JUI-F, AJK, Saeed Yousaf, criticised the Indian policy of populating the valley with Hindu majority.
The seminar was attended by Chairman Kashmir Committee and Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-F Chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman, Information Minister Senator Pervaiz Rashid, President All Jammu & Kashmir Muslim Conference, Sardar Attique Ahmed Khan, ex-Prime Minister AJK, Sardar Muhammad Yaqub Khan and President JUI-F, AJK, Saeed Yousaf.
