PESHAWAR - Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Higher Education and Information, Mushtaq Ahmad Ghani, has said that the present PTI-led provincial government has introduced a new form of governance in the province where merit, transparency and accountability were ensured. The government has considered education as a tool for development that was why it had allocated a huge budget in the ADP for this sector.
He expressed these views, while addressing the concluding session of 1st International Conference on Emerging Trends in Engineering & Management Sciences, which was held in Islamabad on Wednesday.
He said, the present government for the first time in the history of the province has recruited 8500 educators through an independent and reputed testing organization (NTS) and more educators will be recruited in the coming months to accomplish the target of 100 percent literacy rate in the province.
The minister also said, “We have ensured a merit-based system as the core values for the development of our institutions.
The educational institutions and universities of the province are getting strengthened to conduct cutting edge research on issues faced by the society.” At the end, the minister said that the recommendations of such conference were helpful for the government in reform education sector.
Security awareness
workshop organised
 On the directives of the Inspector General of Police Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Nasir Khan Durrani, the provincial police hosted a security awareness workshop for the public and private educational institutions across the province, in Peshawar on Wednesday.
The event was attended by Secretary Education, all District Education Officers of the province and representatives of private schools and colleges. The participants were briefed by the Additional IG Operations about the security guidelines issued by the Operations Branch of KP Police.
They were urged to ensure the implementation of those guidelines before the end of winter vacations.
The Additional IG Operations also informed the participants about the progress made by the KP Police in reviewing the security arrangements of educational institutions across the province.
On the occasion, the participants were also briefed about the salient features and benefits of the “One Click” SOS Alert Service that has recently been launched by the KP Police for enhancing the security of educational institutions across the province.
Speaking on the occasion, the Addl IG said that the KP police are taking every possible measure to ensure the security of the citizens.
