ISLAMABAD - A day after a British newspaper published story of Chairman Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Imran Khan’s marriage with the journalist Reham Khan, PTI chief in his brief statement Thursday said he had publicly expressed his wish to remarry but this was not the appropriate time for the same.
A UK-based newspaper Daily Mail had published, the other day, the story that 62-year-old cricketer-turned-politician Imran Khan had tied the knot with 41-year-old TV anchor Reham Khan who was a divorcee and mother of three children despite the opposition of his family members.
“In response to all the rumours about my marriage, I want to say that I have, in the presence of my supporters, publicly expressed my wish to remarry. However, marriage cannot be entered into lightly,” Khan said in the statement issued from PTI’ Central Secretariat.
“Second marriages especially need to be considered carefully as children are involved. Also, we are deeply saddened by the tragic massacre of our children in Peshawar. We are all in a state of mourning at present. It is only respectful that we wait for an appropriate time,” Khan further said in the statement.
After the news of his marriage became viral on Wednesday, Khan had said through his Twitter message that rumours of his marriage were greatly exaggerated. Aleema Khan, sister of PTI chief, had also rebutted the claims of his brother’ marriage.
