ISLAMABAD - National Accountability Bureau Executive Board meeting on Wednesday authorised inquiry against Abdul Ghafoor Lehri, former minister for Industries and Commerce Balochistan. The former minister Balochistan was alleged for accumulation of assets worth Rs8000 million, which were beyond his known sources of income.
The EBM also decided to authorise two other inquiries. The bureau authorised inquiry against officers and officials of Sindh police. In this case, the accused persons were alleged for embezzlement of funds for procurement of amour vehicles, misappropriation in POL funds and procurement of CCTV Cameras etc. The other inquiry was authorised against officers and officials of Workers Welfare Board and Revenue Department, Gadap Town, Karachi. In this case, the accused persons were alleged for purchase of 66-25 acres land in Deh Allah Phiai by conducting alleged forgery in revenue record thus causing a loss of Rs243.80 million to the national exchequer. The Executive Board Meeting (EBM) decided to file corruption reference against Imdad Ullah, Director of Institute of Chemical Sciences, University of Peshawar and others.
n this case, the accused persons in connivance with each other by misusing their authority caused a loss of Rs12,499,876 to the state exchequer.
The Executive Board Meeting (EBM) also decided to authorize two (2) investigations. First investigation was authorised against Sahibzada Riaz Noor, ex-chief secretary KP, Sohail Bin Qayyum, ex-PD C&W Department and Zahid Arif, ex-secretary C&W KP. In this case, the accused persons were alleged for misuse of authority and illegal re-instatement of accused Zahid Arif.
Second investigation was authorised against Ahsan Ullah Khan, ex-SMBR, officers of Revenue Deparment KP. In this case, the accused persons were alleged for misuse of authority, illegal appointment and promotion of revenue staff. The EBM also assigned an inquiry into the privatisation of MCB Bank to NAB Rawalpindi under NAO.
