The Government Sadiq College Women University, Bahawalpur (GSCWU) will bring revolutionary changes in the society by providing all facilities of quality education to the women in the area.
IUB/GSCWU Vice-Chancellor Dr Muhammad Mukhtar stated this in a radio interview here the other day.
He said that university will bring positive changes in the socio-economic development of the area and women would be able to get higher education in conducive and safe environment.
The VC said university will play important role in women’s emancipation and scholarships for higher education and better chances of employment will also be provided to the girl students of the university. He said that the recruitment of staff for the women university had been started and soon 300 vacancies of female staff would be filled while the regular classes would be started in September this year, adding that initially six faculties and 20 departments would be started in the university. He ruled out the rumours of closing the intermediate classes at the Women’s University and said these classes would continue as routine.
He said that the website of the GSCWU had been launched and annual budget of the university was also under process. He further said that efforts were under way to get funds and land for the women university and the HEC had been providing complete support besides the federal and Punjab governments. The VC informed that the Islamia University, Bahawalpur (IUB) was the first university of the country which took initiative to setup the first ever Inter-University Consortium of 10 universities of the country to promote education and research activities in the country through own resources. He remarked that the youth was country’s valuable asset and according to the Hadith of the Prophet (PBUH) state was bound to impart best knowledge to them for making them responsible citizens who could serve the nation with devotion.
WEBSITE LAUNCHED: Divisional Commissioner Hamid Yaqoob Shaikh has assured to make the Govt Sadiq College Women University (GSCWU) one of the best university of the country where female students could carry out their academic activities in safe and secure environment and soon a separate peace of land would be acquired for its new campus and staff colony.
He said this at a ceremony held at GSCWU in connection with the launching ceremony of the university Website and distribution of appointment letters to the recently recruited deans, chairpersons and dead of departments here the other day.
He underlined the need for character building of the students side by side imparting quality education.
He said that the launching of the university’s website would provide more chances of knowledge and competition among students as they could get better knowledge and information about other universities of the world.
