Danger still hovering over federation: Rabbani

Islamabad - Chairman Senate Mian Raza Rabbani has said that danger was still hovering over the federation and there was dire need to strengthen the institutions and follow the system as given by the Constitution. He further said that the rights of the labourers could only be protected if they would adopt the system as given by the Constitution. “By doing so, the labourers would be able to get their constitutional rights respectfully instead of snatching these,” he also said. The chairman Senate gave these remarks at a reception given by Pakistan Federal Union of Journalists and CDA Labour Union at the National Press Club (NPC). He said that it was good sign that after along time, labourers, lawyers, traders and journalists had gathered under one roof.
Rabbani said that they would have to understand the fact that federation was facing internal and external threats and purpose of all these threats was to weaken the federation and ultimately the country. “Different tactics are being used to divide the nation,” he said.  The chairman Senate advised that those classes of the society which were facing exploitation should end their differences with one another and form a union at large scale so that the issue especially terrorism being faced by the country could be confronted with. “As far as the whole nation would not stand behind the security forces, we would not be able to get rid of this menace of terrorism,” he said.
Rabbani said that the trade unions were being divided through a planned scheme but all these efforts proved futile due to the struggle of labourers and the 18th Amendment.
“The purpose of democracy was to express the point of view through dialogue and point out the issues and this was the beauty of the democracy,” he remarked.
The chairman Senate opined that if there would be rule of law in the country, the masses would be able to recognise their rights and would have confidence in the system as well.
