ICG moot on Afghanistan to be held in Jeddah on 3rd

ISLAMABAD - The first meeting of the International Contact Group (ICG) on Afghanistan hosted by the Organisation of the Islamic Conference (OIC) will be held in Jeddah on March 3, diplomatic sources said on Tuesday. The meeting to be chaired by German SRAP Ambassador Michael Steiner would continue ongoing consultations over challenges related to Afghanistan. Representatives from nearly 50 countries, majority of them from OIC member states and international organisations, would attend the meeting. Afghanistans delegation will be headed by Foreign Minister Rassoul and will include Chairman of the High Peace Council Professor Burhanuddin Rabbani, while Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Hina Rabbani Khar will lead delegation from Pakistan. In a related development, US Special Representative for Afghanistan and Pakistan, Ambassador Marc Grossman will also attend the ICG meeting.
