LAHORE - President Asif Ali Zardari, who is in Lahore these days, had to cancel his Friday’s engagements in the City as he was not feeling well.
The president was scheduled to attend a founder’s day function of Aitchison College, Lahore before noon and to chair a meeting of PPP’s Lahore organisation in the evening.
President’s spokesperson Senator Farhatullah Babar was not available to comment on president’s health condition despite repeated attempts to reach him. Prime Minister Raja Pervaiz Ashraf, Kashmir Affairs Minister Manzoor Wattoo, Water and Power Minister Ch Ahmad Mukhtar and Federal Minister for National Heritage and Integration Samina Khalid Ghurki called on the president late Friday night to inquire after his health. They also congratulated the president on his successful visit to Iran and the signing of gas pipeline project.
Speaking on the occasion, the president, reportedly, asked the prime minister and members of his cabinet to take credit for the pipeline project signed with Iran and present it before the public as one of the greatest achievements of the present government.
On Saturday (today), the president is scheduled to meet newspaper editors and senior journalists over dinner he will in their honour at Bilawal House Lahore. He may visit Bahawalpur during the day if he feels better, a PPP source said.
