Transparent electoral system inevitable for country: Sarwar

SHEIKHUPURA
Former Punjab governor and PTI central leader Ch Muhammad Sarwar declared that rigging and other unfair means in the elections were not only dangerous but against the integrity and solidarity of the country, underlining that free, fair and transparent electoral system was inevitable for true democracy in the country.
Ch Muhammad Sarwar was addressing a reception arranged by the PTI worker and Trader Association Chairman Aslam Baloch in his honour here the other day.
Mr Sarwar proudly stated that he had started his political journey from Sheikhupura. He regretted that there existed neither a good governance system nor justice dispensation in the country, adding that dozens of children lost their lives in Sargodha and Vehari hospitals due to paucity of oxygen but no one was ready to take responsibility for the grave negligence.
“All such unfortunate happening are black spots on the faces of rulers,” he lamented. The former governor informed that had such an event taken place in any European country, the entire government would have been sent packing. Mr Sarwar said demanded the government to hold local bodies elections as soon as possible across the country, adding that the system would not only protect the democratic norms but ensure progress and prosperity.
While criticized the performance of PML- N government, Ch Sarwar recalled that the rulers had promised to eliminate loadshedding and other wrongdoings within six months during election campaign but unfortunately neither power outages could be eliminated nor the law and order situation could be improved in the country. He lauded the Supreme Court directions issued to the government regarding announcement of date for local bodies’ elections. “The rulers should now follow the instructions of the apex court and announce dates for LG elections,” Ch Sarwar stressed.
The former governor pointed out that due to wrong policies of the government, circular debt had crossed its limits and reached Rs580 billion. He claimed that it was fully hoped that PTI would sweep local bodies and general elections whenever it would be held in the country in a transparent way.
To question, the former governor replied that the PTI was the only political party who raised the voice against the injustice and miseries of the masses that’s why he preferred joining the party.
