Guilty verdict in NYC Subway plot



New York  - A jury on Tuesday found a New York City man guilty on terrorism charges for plotting to launch al Qaeda-approved suicide attacks on the city’s subway system.Adis Medunjanin, 28, was accused of receiving training at al Qaeda camps in Pakistan along with two high school friends from Queens before planning a 2009 attack on New York’s underground trains, which authorities have called the most credible terror threat to the US since 9/11. Medunjanin’s co-conspirators, Najibullah Zazi and Zarein Ahmedzay, previously pleaded guilty to charges related to the plot and testified against Medunjanin as part of an agreement with prosecutors. The 28-year-old was found guilty on all counts, including conspiring to provide material support to a terrorist organization, attempting to commit an act of terrorism, and conspiring to use a weapon of mass destruction. Medunjanin, a Bosnian-born US citizen, faces up to life in prison.
