ISLAMABAD- Islamabad High Court (IHC) has directed the petitioner to attach all the record of decisions given by Peshawar High Court and IHC in drone attack cases with the petition filed by him for registration of murder case against former president Pervez Musharraf in respect of people killed in drone strikes.
A single bench of IHC comprising Justice Shaukat Aziz Siddiqui took up for hearing a constitutional petition filed against the former president Pervez Musharraf Thursday. Petition was filed by a citizen through his counsel Mian Ahmad Khan. Deputy Attorney General (DAG) Hasnain Akbar Kazmi and Mian Ahmad Khan advocate counsel for petitioner appeared in the court.
Counsel for petitioner argued former president Pervez Musharraf had reached a written agreement with US authorities allowing US to conduct drone strikes in tribal areas of Pakistan. Several innocent citizens have been martyred in these drone attacks from 2004 to 2013 in tribal areas of the country, therefore, court should order for registration of murder case against Pervez Musharraf in respect of the innocent citizens killed in these attacks.
The counsel for federation requested the court to give him more time in regard to this case. Justice Shaukat Aziz Siddiqui remarked “You fear from what things when courts are conducting proceedings. You need not to fear from anything.”
He directed the petitioner that Peshawar High Court and IHC had given decisions in drone strike cases, therefore, all the record pertaining to these verdicts be attached with his petition. Additional Sessions Judge West, SSP Islamabad police and SHO Secretariat police station have been made respondents.
The hearing of the case was adjourned indefinitely.
