Nawaz invites Zardari to meeting of heads of parliamentary parties

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif telephoned former president Asif Ali Zardari and invited him to a meeting of heads of parliamentary parties.

Pakistan People's Party (PPP) Senator Farhatullah Babar confirmed that the prime minister telephoned his party's co-chairman and invited him to the meeting.

"Asif Zardari told PM Sharif that PPP chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari would attend the meeting of parliamentary parties' heads," he added.

The meeting will take place in Islamabad on Monday, for which the government also issued invitation letters to the heads of parliamentary parties.

The political leadership, at the meeting, will be briefed on situation in Indian-held Kashmir (IHK) and at the Line of Control (LoC).

On Thursday, two Pakistani soldiers embraced martyrdom when Indian forces resorted to unprovoked firing across the LoC.

The unprovoked fire was painted as a surgical strike by senior Indian officials, in a move apparently aimed to appease the public.
