Pindi postmaster killed as robbers on rampage

RAWALPINDI - Three armed robbers looted Rs 800,000 from a postmaster of Qazian area of Gujar Khan and shot him dead over resistance, while two robbers snatched over Rs 1 million from a citizen at gunpoint in the limits of police station RA Bazaar, sources revealed here on Monday.
According to sources, Postmaster Qazian Muhammad Arshad was going to Qazian post office on his motorcycle after withdrawing Rs 0.8 million from GPO Gujar Khan when three armed robbers intercepted him at Noor Ali Chowk at 7:30am at gunpoint. The robbers asked him to hand them over the bag containing cash or else they would shoot him.
The postmaster tried to show resistance when a robber fired at him, killing him on the spot, and snatched the bag. After committing crime, the bandits managed to escape from the scene, sources added.
Locals informed police about the incident. Police rushed to the scene and moved the dead body to nearby hospital for post mortem.
Gujar Khan police including SI Azam, the investigation officer, refused to share details when this scribe contacted them for their versions. No case was taken up till filing of this report.
In the second incident, two armed robbers looted Rs 1,040,000 from a citizen on Dhamial Road, within the limits of PS RA Bazaar. According to sources, a citizen namely Faisal Mehmood, a resident of Dhamial area, was going his home after withdrawing Rs 1,040,000 from a local bank when two unknown robbers stopped him at gunpoint, snatched the amount and ran away.
Interestingly, Station House Officer PS RA Bazaar and his subordinates, when contacted by this scribe to get their version, expressed their complete unawareness about the happening of any such incident. "No such incident occurred in the limits of my police station," said SHO while talking to The Nation.
