RAWALPINDI - The Health teams on Monday claimed to have achieved polio vaccination target set for Tehsil Murree under a five-day drive which concluded on August, 30.
Talking to APP, Executive District Officer (EDO-Health), Dr Zafar Iqbal Gondal said over 35,000 children, below five years age, were administered anti-polio drops during the campaign launched in 15 union councils of Tehsil Murree.
Earlier, the District Health Department had postponed the anti-polio drive scheduled to start from August, 25 in the whole district except Murree, due to uncertain political situation.
The district administration faced shortage of staff due to sit-ins of Pakistan Tehreek-Insaf (PTI) and Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) in Islamabad, and hospitals also could not spare their manpower for the drive as their staff has been put on alert to deal with any emergency.
