PESHAWAR – The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Information, Culture and Education Mossarat Qadeem has said there was great need to include  ‘peace’ lessons in the academic courses on priority basis.
She was presiding over a meeting with the teachers in Peshawar on Tuesday. The meeting was also attended among others by Secretary Primary and Secondary Humayun Khan and Director Primary Education, Bashir Hussain Shah.
The minister directed the authorities concerned to inscribe messages of peace in the course books so that the people could know its importance.
She declared that no one could deny the role played by the curriculum and its effects on the society. She said till they had not made reforms in curriculum, it would be more difficult to get rid of the present day hardships.
She stressed the need for giving special attention to the curriculum in the education sector, making it to compete with the present day needs of humanity.
She said for ensuring education for all, we should also go ahead with the development so far made in the public and private sectors and should introduce private and public-partnership system in the sector.
She said without education they could not maintain their honour and respect amongst the global community.
She also called for introducing an effective monitoring system in the education sector.
The minister also directed the concerned authorities to make computer education compulsory for the teachers. Moreover, beside primary level, special arrangements should also be made for imparting training to the teachers on higher level. She said teaching had its own value and for this purpose the teaching community needed to pay special heed otherwise the required result could not be achieved.
Earlier, Secretary Information, Culture and Public Relations Azmat Hanif Orakzai briefed the minister on the traditional ‘Hunermand Scheme’ and apprised her of the different aspects of the schemes.
Potable water supply scheme completed in Ambar
To provide potable water to residents of Pampokha Village, Tehsil Ambar, the political administration of Mohmand Agency has completed a clean drinking water scheme.
A press release issued by the Fata Secretariat said that the inhabitants of village had been facing acute shortage of clean drinking water.
At the request of the local elders, political administration responded by prioritising their urgent demand and initiated work on water supply scheme to facilitate people of the village.
The drinking water supply scheme in the village Pampokha of Tehsil Ambar was completed by constructing five water storage tanks and installing 5,415 meters long distribution pipeline.
The water supply scheme would provide potable water at the doorsteps of 400 households’ consisting of 3,200 individuals.
The local elders thanked and praised the timely response of the government and said that the provision of basic amenities of life to the less-developed areas would help ease the difficulties of the population to a great extent.
