Pakistan is making economic progress: Pervez Rashid

Rawalpindi- Minister for Information and Broadcasting Senator Pervez Rashid said today that the government is making progress by leaps and bounds as number of projects has been initiated by the government which will usher in an era of progress and prosperity not only in Pakistan but also in the region. 


He was talking to newsmen in Rawalpindi this morning after a flag-hoisting ceremony in connection with the Independence Day celebrations. Commenting on scheduled long–march of Pakistan Tehreek Insaaf, the minister said that   PTI Chairman Imran Khan must ensure that no terrorist activity takes place during the long march. He said that this was the first Eid when people enjoyed celebrations in peaceful atmosphere. He said the country is making progress, which has been acknowledged by the leading world institutions including Moody’s, Asian Development Bank, World Bank, Wall Street Journal and others.


Pervez Rashid said according to a Nielsen survey, Pakistanis spent 800 billion rupees on this Eid, which shows that their purchasing power has increased because of economic prosperity.


 


The minister said the Government is committed to overcoming the energy shortfall. He said during one year, the PML-N government has initiated a number of coal, hydro, solar and wind power projects. He said Pakistan was achieved under the leadership of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah through democratic, lawful and constitutional struggle. Earlier, he hoisted the national flag as part of the Independence Day celebrations and urged the nation to hoist as many as flags they can at their residences, offices, buildings and vehicles. The PML-N leader Hanif Abbani and other local leaders and party workers were present on the occasion.
