The district police nailed 421 criminals including 350 proclaimed offenders wanted by the police in various cases of murder, attempt to murder, dacoity, snatching and other heinous and 71 court absconders.
The arrested criminal included eight notorious POs and 26 members of eight gangs who had unleashed a reign of terror in the district.
Briefing the media about the district police performance in July here, District Police Officer Rai Babar Saeed claimed that the police also recovered booty worth Rs1.7 million and weapons from the possession of the criminals.The DPO informed that the police had launched a vigorous campaign against the bandits and proclaim offenders. He said that the campaign had been executed on modern lines to net the criminals creating terror and law order in the district. DPO Saeed declared that the police would spare no efforts to let the public realise security of their honour and property.
He pointed out that the Kasur Police had also been in action against drug mafia and registered 86 cases besides recovering 4 kg of heroin, 26 kg charas, 440 litres liquor, 150 litres wine and dismantled three running distilleries during the last month.
He said that the police also registered 109 cases against people for carrying and possessing illegal weapons, adding that the police recovered 77 pistols, 32 guns, 33 rifles, two carbines and a Kalashnikov with 36 magazines and numerous bullets.
The DPO reiterated his resolve to purge the district of crime, saying that all-out energies would be invested in the campaign to transform the police into a public-friendly formidable force. “There is no place for corrupt and lax officials and special focus has been given to the reorganisation of the police to enable it tackle the prevailing challenging scenario,” he declared.
Rai Babar Saeed also sought public cooperation to ensure effective policing in the district.
