Rawalpindi - The anti-narcotics force (ANF) carried out five operations in different cities of the country and seized huge quantity of narcotics, besides nabbing smugglers and impounding vehicles.
The operations were conducted in Islamabad, Faisalabad, Lahore and Karachi which led to recovery of 11.5-kg heroin, 24.8-kg hashish and 1.2-kg opium, informed ANF spokesperson here on Tuesday.
He added that ANF also arrested smugglers and seized 2 vehicles during these operations. Most of the drugs were destined abroad while the value of the value of the recovered drugs is Rs 103.6 million approximately in international market.
According to him, ANF Rawalpindi on pursuance of an intelligence report foiled a smuggling bid abroad and recovered 10-kg heroin from the roof of domestic departure lounge of Benazir Bhutto Islamabad International Airport. He siad that heroin was concealed in the back side corner of the air conditioning system of the domestic lounge. The search was conducted in collaboration with ASF and Civil Aviation Authority. As per initial reports, drug was to be smuggled abroad through aerial route after receiving safe signal. No individual has been detained in this connection so far, he said.
