GUJRAT - PML-Q senior central leader and Deputy Prime Minister Ch Pervaiz Elahi claimed that had Shahbaz Sharif not shelved his government projects there would have been no darkness in Punjab today. We do politics for progress and development of the country and welfare of people and anti-masses elements will not be able to compete with us anywhere. Deputy Prime Minister Pervaiz Elahi made the remarks while addressing a big gathering of former Nazims, Councillors and notables of NA-105 Gujrat here on Saturday. Federal Minister Ch Wajahat Hussain and other PML-Q leaders were also present on the occasion. Ch Pervaiz Elahi recalled that his government had taken a number of measures for the welfare and well-being of the poor and the common man, adding that he ensured free healthcare and education facilities and creation of maximum employment opportunities both as the Punjab CM and now as the Deputy Prime Minister. He said that he worked day and night for enhancing the prestige of the Punjab and that’s why today people of other provinces told him that “Punjab of my tenure was better than today. “ We started free education in 64,000 schools of the province for the first time in the history, provided stipends to girl students,” he enumerated and lamented the present government dismantled this system, shutting the doors of education on the poor girl students. He continued that Sharif Brothers had only developed Jaati Umrah. We exempted five marla houses and 12 and half acres of land from tax, provided free education, transport and other facilities to the special children, he added. He claimed that the present Punjab government would give Rs one billion subsidy per month on what he called “Jangla Bus Service” which would be received from the poor people. Speaking on the occasion, former Provincial Minister Mian Imran Masood said that selection of candidates by the PML-N could be judged by the bitter fact that it had given ticket to a fake degree holder in Gujrat. The PML-N has a history of supporting and promoting fake degree holders. However, this time with the help of the people we would get their securities confiscated because they have eaten the money of the poor people for five years,” he charged. The gathering was also addressed by Ch Mohammad Asghar Telwala, Haji Faizul Hassan Nasir, Iftikhar Bhatti, Mehr Mehboob, Humayun Iqbal, Mirza Mudassar Baig, Malik Iftikhar Ahmad advocate, Nadeem Qadir, Ch Jamil, Nasir Majid Durrani, Sarfaraz Gadana, Ustad Aslam Dhiki, Ch Mazhar Nat, Muhammad Aamer Siddique, Ch Muhammad Ashraf, Ch Tasudduq, Safdar Iqbal Bhatti, Malik Muhammad Riaz, Ch Riaz Tara and Molvi Mohammad Bashir among others.
