PESHAWAR – Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa President and Member Provincial Assembly Anwar Saifullah on Saturday said that establishment of sustainable peace and normalcy will be their top priority if PPP came into power in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in the upcoming elections.
“I had been a deputy commissioner and know better how to establish peace in the province,” Anwar Saifullah said while expressing his views in a programme “Guest Hour” organised by Peshawar Press Club. Regretting the killing of PPP slain chairperson Benazir Bhutto, he said we have been deprived of a great political leader, adding if she were alive the situation in the country would be changed at all.
Flanked by PPP women MPA Nighat Orakzai, he claimed that he had old relations with Bhutto family, saying that he had enjoyed and learnt a lot while in cabinet with BB and later on did not take interest to be in cabinet with any other premier. ‘It was an honour for Saifullah brothers’ that for the first time one of them was conferred PPP provincial president-ship. It was indeed a great honor for us, and I especially thankful to President Zardari and Faryal Talpur who honored me, Mr Saifullah maintained.
Though he was arrested in a corruption case in the Pervez Musharaf regime, but non of the corruption case was proved against him upon which the court quit him, he informed and claimed that non of the corruption case was made against Saifullah brothers. “I promise and assure the masses to rule an exemplary government and forget all the previous and existing governments if PPP were came into power in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in the upcoming general elections, he vowed.
The first and utmost work of the PPP government will be to transfer powers to lower level by holding elections of Local Councils, Saifullah said.
The MNAs and MPAs have the only responsibility of legislations, he said and added I will shun the funds to MPAs because pavement of streets and drain system were better knows by the locally elected persons of local councils.
Regarding the existing wave of terror in the province, he said that the issue should resolved on priority basis as it was need of the hour and negotiations with militants should hold at any cost. In reply to a query, he said that PPP and PML-N both are big parties and if the two wants in time elections then it could its postponement is impossible.
