PESHAWAR - National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa arrested accused Abdul Wahid Tehsil, Officer Regulation Mardan, who is allegedly involved in illegal award of contracts for collection of 2 per cent immoveable property tax below the reserved price and thus caused a huge loss to the government exchequer.
During the course of inquiry, it was revealed that Tehsil Municipal Administration Mardan awarded contract in 2011-12 and 2012-13 to blue eyed contractor which was in sheer violation of model terms and conditions of Local Council Board (LCB). According to the model terms and conditions of Local Council Board, there will be 15 per cent yearly increase in the contract price but contrary to this the TMA in order to extend illegal benefit to the contractor did not care the same and awarded contract below reserved price. The contract awarding process was carried out by TMA Mardan and contractor Sardar Afridi made ring with the bidders and planted his own persons in the bidding process in both years.
In 2011-12 and 2013 the contract of collection of immoveable property tax was awarded below the reserved price. The accused Abdul Wahid working as Municipal Officer Regulation in DOR Office Mardan had the responsibility to regularise the bidding process. However, he let fake participants enter into bidding process and along with contractor Sardar Afridi manipulated the whole bidding process.
PTI PK-6 supporters protest excessive loadshedding: Workers of Pakistan Tehrik-i-Insaf (PTI) on Monday staged a protest demonstration against the excessive loadshedding of electricity and natural gas, and the ongoing police search operation in the PK-6 constituency of Peshawar. The protest demonstration was led by PTI Member Provincial Assembly Fazl-e-Elahi. The protestors were carrying placards and banner inscribed with slogans in favour of their demands and against the federal government. They protestors also chanted full throated against the government.
Addressing the demonstrators, Fazl Elahi alleged that unscheduled and excessive power outages were being carried out whereas smooth gas supply was also not ensured in the constituency, which was a sheer injustice with the local population. He said that State Minister for Water and Power Abid Sher Ali visited Peshawar to create a rift between centre and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government by blaming Pakhtuns as power thefts. He said the attitude was highly condemnable and unacceptable to them.
NADRA employees demand proper service structure: Employees of National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) on Monday set up a token hunger strike camp against the non-acceptance of their demands here outside press club.
They protesting employees demanded the government to announce a proper service structure and increase their other allowances. The protest camp was headed by All Pakistan NADRA Employees Union (APNEU) Central President Muhammad Saleem Sherpao, Provincial President Azmat Qazafi, Abbas Khan Chamkani, Gohar Ayub, Arshad Hussain.
They were holding placards and hoisted banner in the camp inscribed with slogans in favour of their demands. Talking to media persons, Saleem Sherpao said that government was not paying heed towards resolution of their basic issues and genuine demands.
"We demands one-step promotion along with a proper service structure," he said, adding owing to non-acceptance of their demands they were compelled to opt to set up a protesting hunger strike camp. He also vowed to keep their strike continue till meeting of their demands.
He asked the government and authorities concerned to take serious steps to resolve their basic issues and give them proper service structure.
