Six militants die in Tirah airstrikes

KHYBER AGENCY - Six suspected militants were killed and five others sustained injuries when jet planes pounded hideouts of the terrorists belonging to Lashkar-e-Islam (LI) and Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) here in Tirah Valley of Khyber Agency, sources said yesterday.
The warplanes targeted the Rajgal, Sattar Kalley and Gharebi Kandow areas in Koki Khel.
The sources said that fighter jets bombarded the suspected sanctuaries and inflicted casualties on militants in the said areas. Three hideouts of the militants were also demolished in the airstrikes, sources added. All the dead are stated to be volunteers of Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan and Lashkar-e-Islam (LI) Bara-based defunct organisation.
However, due to being remote area and lack of communication facilities it could not be confirmed from the militants groups. A senior commander of banned outfit was also killed in latest airstrikes.
CTD ARRESTS WANTED TERRORIST
Staff Reporter from Peshawar adds: Counter terrorism police on Tuesday arrested a terrorist in Board Bazar who was wanted to police in various incidents of terrorism and extortion during last Muharram-ul-Haram. The accused identified as Ghufranullah son of Zia-ud-Din resident of Koki Khail Jamrod Khyber Agency.
The arrest was made after interrogation from his two other accomplices being arrested on the spot while shifting explosive to Peshawar from Shahkas area. However at that time Ghufranullah made his escape while his two other accomplices were arrested.
The accused Ghufranullah had allegedly collected extortion from an industrialist in Karkhano market. He has also extorted three million from a person in Tahkta Beg area and fired a rocket to another house for taking extortion.
Police said that the accused is also involved in targeted killing and terrorist activities. His arrested was made in Board Bazar Peshawar after hectic efforts of counter terrorism police.
