Democracy & inaction can't go together: Nawaz

LAHORE Democracy and inaction cannot go side by side. Similarly civilised and democratic society cannot forgive corrupt elements. PML-N Quaid Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif stated this while addressing a meeting of partys Punjab Organizing Committee at Chief Ministers Secretariat on Saturday. Government should solve the problems of masses and meet the challenges faced by the country earnestly. Govt should take into confidence all the democratic forces to take up this uphill task, he added. He said that foreign and domestic enemies had hatched several conspiracies against the nuclear Pakistan and inflicted many damages to the motherland. PML-N government did not succumb to any pressure regarding turning the country into a nuclear power and it would not compromise on national interests in the future too, he stressed. He said that country was facing several problems like shortage of electricity, gas and water, price-hike and unemployment and solid policies should be evolved to solve these problems. The entire nation should unite against the corrupt elements. It should also gather on one platform to make Parliament powerful and for bringing to book the assassins of Nawab Akbar Bugti, he said. He also directed the leaders and workers of the party to play their role in this regard and start a mass contact movement for public awareness on the issues confronting the nation. He said that PML-N knew its national and democratic duties. 'At the same time it cannot tolerate corrupt elements, price-hike, unemployment and non-availability of basic necessities. Nawaz Sharif said that PML-N followed the footsteps and teachings of Quaid-i-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah and would give the nation a new vision on economy, health, education and unemployment. He said that different committees of PML-N think-tank were working in their areas with full zeal and would come up with dynamic proposals that would safeguard countrys future and take it into a era of progress and prosperity. PML-N leaders Sartaj Aziz and Kh. Saad Rafique presented their proposals regarding the process of party reorganisation in Punjab on this occasion, which were discussed in the meeting. PML-N leaders including Raja Zafar-ul-Haq, Javed Hashmi, Ahsan Iqbal, Zulfiqar Khosa, Ghulam Dastgir Khan, Ayaz Amir, Pervaiz Rasheed, Begum Najma Hameed, Rana Sanaullah, Rana Tanveer, M. Hamza and others attended the meeting, while Chief Minister Punjab Shahbaz Sharif could not attend the meeting due to illness.
