SIALKOT - The Sialkot-based two exporters-turned-politicians brothers and the bigwigs of PML-Q have joined the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).
Former provincial minister and close relative of Ch Pervaiz Elahi, Muhammad Ajmal Cheema and his younger brother, former Sialkot district nazim Muhammad Akmal Cheema announced their decision of joining PTI after an important meeting with their like-minded as many as 70 former nazims of the union councils here the other day.
According to the local political pundits, Cheema brothers’ joining would give a big political boost to the PTI in Sialkot’s regional politics. On this occasion, PML-Q Women Wing Punjab President Dr Naseem Shakeel also joined PTI.
The Cheemas told the meeting that they would meet PTI Chief Imran Khan on January 7 in Islamabad and would invite him formally to visit Sialkot and to hold a big public meeting in the city.
PML-Q backed former Sialkot Chamber of Commerce and Industry president Mian Naeem Javaid and Muhammad Akmal Cheema were both the district nazims during the Perviaz Musharraf regime. Naeem Javaid earlier flew to the PML-N camps for his political survival and now he has recently joined the PTI. Sialkot’s famous Dar Family, comprising exporter-turned-politician Imtiazuddin Dar and his son Umer Dar have already joined the PTI defecting from PML-Q.
Abdul Waheed elected as FPCCI VP: The Sialkot-based leading exporter Sheikh Abdul Waheed Sandal has been elected as Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) vice president during its annual elections completed here.
Earlier, he had also served the district business community as the Sialkot Chamber of commerce and industry president.
