PESHAWAR - Demanding of the government to announce a comprehensive compensation package and ensure reconstruction of basic infrastructure in tehsil Bara, Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) of Khyber Agency have set up a protest camp outside the Press Club here Friday.
The camp was headed by Chairman Tehreek-e-Haqooq-e-Bara, a movement started for the IDPs of Bara, and the JI leader from Khyber Agency Shah Faisal Afridi.
They were carrying placards and banners inscribed with slogans in favour of their demands and against the government for non-provision of basic facilities at their makeshift camps in Jalozai.
While addressing the demonstrators, Faisal Afridi said that massive displacement had taken place due to the ongoing military operation in Bara. The fresh military operation 'Khyber One', he said, has multiplied the miseries of tribesmen.
He said a large number of children had been deprived of education facility, while basic infrastructure and health facilities have been completely shattered.The movement chairman said the military operation "Khyber One' has almost completed its two-month its launch, but the government and relevant authorities didn't take steps to mitigate sufferings of fresh IDPs from Bara. He claimed the Bara IDPs have been deprived of monthly allowance, cash, and winter packages, along with food and non-food facility. He viewed the tribesmen from Bara had also rendered numerous sacrifices for their motherland.
Afridi said that IDPs are being faced with enormous difficulties to get rented-houses due to the inadequate shelter arrangements, while they (IDPs) could not afford huge rents of the houses. The JI leader demanded of the federal government, and Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to immediately make arrangements for volunteer return of IDPs.
IGP DIRECTS MORE SECURITY IN KP
Inspector General of Police Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Nasir Khan Durrani has directed police high-ups to post an additional SHO Security in all urban police stations of the province.
He said while chairing a high level meeting of Regional Police Officers (RPOs) regarding law and order in the province held at CPO Peshawar on Friday.
Additional IGPs Headquarters, Operations, Commandant Elite Force, Deputy Commandant Rapid Response Force, CCPO, DIG Training, AIG Operations, SSP Operations Peshawar and all Regional Police Officers attended the meeting.
In the meeting security of schools, colleges and other sensitive establishments, Tenants Information Form (TIF), rented buildings and hotels security acts, schedule four accused, search and strike operations, vehicles detected through VVS and persons checked through CRVS were discussed in detail.
All Regional Police Officers gave detailed briefing of their respective regions about the prevailing security situation and steps taken for it.
The IGP directed the participants to post an additional SHO in all urban police stations along with necessary staff for security purpose. They were further directed that all RPOs and DPOs should personally visit each and every school, college and other sensitive establishments in their jurisdiction and review the security measures adopted there.
"Each and every one should identify sensitive establishments in his division and district and should adopt stringent security measures with due professional zeal and spirit," said the IGP.
