Action against pollution

Peshawar High Court (PHC) on Tuesday ordered Provincial Transport Authority (PTA) to issue show cause notices to vehicles emitting smoke and cancel permits of the vehicles in case of disobedience.
Hearing a suo moto notice, a two-member bench of PHC headed by Chief Justice Dost Mohammad Khan and Justice Qaiser Rasheed issued these orders. The PTA officials presented its report to the court in which the PTA informed that at least 14 CNG stations, five of them in Peshawar, have been authorised to provide CNG kits to vehicles which is as per the legislation by OGRA.
The PTA official told the court that 14 CNG stations were giving standard quality kits. The Chief Justice asked the PTA that under what law, the government's right has been given to a private firm so ensure public safety, which is the due right of the government.es.–Staff Reporter
