JI leader drowns while saving child



BALAKOT: Jamaat-e-Islami Karachi Naib Ameer Nasrullah Shaji drowned in River Kunhar in an attempt to save a child from drowning near Balakot, reported a private TV channel on Monday.
According to the police, the incident occurred when a 10th grade student Sufyan, who was taking pictures, slipped and fell in the river. Nasrullah witnessed the accident and jumped in the river to save the child, but drowned as well. Volunteers managed to recover body of the drowned child, but efforts were underway to retrieve Nasrullah’s body.
Nasrullah, the principal of a private school in Karachi, had brought the students to Balakot on a study tour. He was regarded as an eminent personality in Karachi and had also been elected as a member of the Sindh Assembly. JI chief Sirajul Haq, former JI chief Syed Munawar Hasan and other senior party leaders have expressed deep grief and shock over the martyrdom of the leader and student.
They said that the JI leader had devoted his life for the cause of Islam and had attained the martyrdom while attempting to save a youth.
