ISLAMABAD : High Commissioner of Pakistan to India, Abdul Basit, Monday briefed Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan about the nature of relations between Pakistan and India, especially in aftermath of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif's visit to India to attend the oath-taking ceremony of Indian Premier Narendra Modi.In this regard, Basit called on Minister for Interior and Narcotics Control Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan here on Monday.The minister said that Pakistan wanted good neighbourly relations with India based on equality and mutual respect. However, theses relations could not improve unless India would show its seriousness in resolution of core issues between the two countries including the issue of Jammu and Kashmir, he added.Nisar said that peace without resolution of long-standing core issues could not be seen in reality. He hoped that the new government in Delhi would take positive steps in improving the relations between the two countries. The minister praised the performance of Basit and said that he should continue making good use of his office in promoting the interests of Pakistan and working for peace with honour for the country.This news was published in The Nation newspaper.
