Washington: United States Shadow Secretary Jesse Jackson has asked for former military ruler Pervez Musharraf’s name, to be removed from the Exit Control List (ECL).
In a written request to President Barrack Obama, United States Shadow Secretary Jesse Jackson has asked for former military ruler Pervez Musharraf’s name to be removed from the Exit Control List (ECL)
According to media reports, the letter was sent to President Obama requesting him to urge the Pakistani government to remove Musharraf’s name from the ECL, so that Musharraf can avail medical treatment in the US, given his deteriorating health.
The letter said that the former military ruler, helped the United States during 9/11 and his gesture should be reciprocated at a time when he is not well.
Further, the request urges the removal of his name from the ECL, due to the threat Musharraf and his family is receiving, from the outlawed Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan.
Previous appeals have been rejected by courts to have his name taken off from the list.
