Islamabad: Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif has said that Pakistan and China are Iron Brothers co-operating closely in all domains with the common vision to build a better future for the peoples of the two countries and promote regional peace.
He was talking to a delegation of Research and Development International, a new joint China-Pakistan think tank on China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) today.
The Prime Minister welcomed the establishment of the think tank which comprises of leading scholars, public figures and business groups from China.
Nawaz Sharif said the corridor is the flagship project of the "One Belt and One Road" initiative, since both the Belt and the Road have their meeting point in Pakistan.
He was confident that the agreements and the MOUs signed during the visit of the Chinese president will forge an ever stronger relationship between the two countries.
The delegation congratulated the government on achieving a historic consensus on the corridor project in the recently held All Parties Conference.
The Prime Minister said a parliamentary committee has also been formed to oversee the corridor project and to speed up the process of its building.
The delegation informed the Prime Minister that the Research and Development International plans to establish China Pakistan Information Corridor as well, in order to support and supplement the CPEC, which would be a one window operation to provide necessary information to all.
The Prime Minister was informed that Chinese authorities are deliberating to hold China-Pakistan Economic Corridor forum every year in the Karamay city of Xinjiang.
