Clerks strike, rally for pay raise


HAFIZABAD: Clerks of the district Hafizabad observed complete strike and took out a rally in favour of their demands on the call of the All Pakistan Clerks Association on Tuesday.
The rally started from office of the Deputy District Officer Education Hafizabad and culminated at Vanike Chowk after marching through different roads of the city. The rally was led by APCA Hafizabad President Nasarullah Hunjra, Gulzar Ahmad, Muzaffar Ali, Rana Sadaf and Muhammad Faisal. The participants of the rally blocked the rail and road traffic and staged a sit in at the railway crossing gate. They were carrying placards and banners inscribed with their demands. Addressing the rally, speakers urged the government to fulfil their demands including implementation of the proposals of the Pay and Pension Committee constituted by the government to propose increase in salaries of government employees last year.
RESCUERS ‘THRASHED’: Rescue 1122 official were allegedly thrashed by the Army officials when the formers were trying to extinguish the fire erupted in a forest near Head Sagar which is under the Army control.
According to 1122 Hafizabad District Emergency Officer Sibghatullah, the rescuers reached to extinguish fire. An army official came there tore the uniform of a Rescuer and thrashed him, saying why the rescue personnel reached late. Meanwhile, the Hafizabad DSP reached the spot. He shifted all the rescuers and the army official to Saddar police station. The army man forbade the media to cover the incident and refused to give any information in this regard but admitted that two persons were injured in the clash.
