Two top POs among eight ‘robbers’ held


BUREWALA - The Model Town police claimed to have arrested eight members of an inter-district robbers’ gang including 2 top-10 proclaimed offenders.
“The police also recovered loot and weapons from their possession,” disclosed DSP Mazhar Ahmad while addressing a press conference at the Burewala Press Club here.
On the special instructions of Vehari DPO Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi, the police launched a special drive against criminals. The added that Model Town SHO Syed Shahid Abbass and his team members SI Muhammad Javed and Muhammad Irshad arrested the accused including ringleader Nazir Ahmad alias Naziri. The other are identified as Muhammad Ashfaq alias Shaqi, Muhammad Riaz of Karampur, Muhammad Ashiq Dhudhi of Chak 20/WB, Muhammad Latif Jatt of Muslim Town and Ghulam Shabbir of Bilal Colony Shujaabad.
The police recovered a car (LED-4751) owned by a relative of patrolling police constable Muhammad Saleem, two motor cycles and cattle from their possession. The DSP explained that Muhammad Ashfaq used to rob different cattle in his car and sell them in the other districts while Nazir had sold kidneys of more then 35 people in Rawalpindi. He said they got cars on rent and after administering intoxicating substance to drivers, drove away the cars and sold them in the tribal areas.
He observed that the police had arrested two top-10 proclaimed offenders namely Riaz alias Phana Chohan and Faryad alias Abdul Sattar of Chak 203/EB after hectic efforts.
