Islamabad- Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Senator Farhatullah Babar today said that his party would not back any movement which may weaken Nawaz government.
He said non-democratic forces are behind Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chief Imran Khan’s anti-rigging protest. Talking to a private news channel he said that PPP would not support either the protest or the recent Geo/Jang group boycott, while saying that he added this was no time for protest.
Former Presidential spokesman said it was surprising why Imran Khan is protesting against rigging in election after one year. Babar said that his party would be standing by Nawaz government, if efforts were made to derail democracy in the country. The senator said that if any body had complaints against media, then legal ways were always there to adopt and protest. In the current scenario, when a media channel was being pushed to the wall, such protest would only benefit non-democratic forces. The PPP stalwart claimed the people of Pakistan know the tricks of non-democratic forces.
It must be noted that PTI along with Tahir-ul-Qadri’s Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) announced to protest against alleged rigging on 11 May 2013 elections and had boycotted Geo/Jang group accusing them of facilitating rigging.
