KP Ehtesab Commission arrests university professor over corruption charges

PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa's Ehtesab Commission on Thursday arrested Islamia College University professor Dr Naeem Khalid for alleged embezzlement of millions of rupees in the varsity funds and misuse of authority, said a statement issued by the commission.

Dr Naeem Khalid was serving at the Islamia College University Peshawar as the chairman of physics department.

"Ehtesab Commission started investigation against Dr Naeem Khalid on various complaints lodged by varsity employees and during initial investigation commission found the accused involved in corruption and misuse of authority," said an official of the Commission.

“The most senior staff member of the university was arrested on the charges of corruption and misuse of his authority,” he added.

The statement issued by the commission further added that accused will be presented before the court on Friday for acquisition of judicial remand.
