Buffalo milk contest, donkey-cart race held

BAHAWALPUR - The District Livestock Department organised the Buffalo milking contest and donkey-cart race under the Punjab Youth Festival Programme here the other day.
The buffalo milking contest was held in Civil Veterinary Hospital where Abdul Ghaffar’s buffalo gave 12.43 litre milk and was declared winner of the contest while Abid Ali’s buffalo gave 11.09 litres of milk and was pronounced second and Abdul Qayum’s buffalo grabbed third position with 11.08 litres of milk.
On the occasion, District Livestock Dr Yaqoob Anjum, Dr Safaat and Dr Arshad Hussain said that the Livestock Department was playing a vital role in the economic development of the region.
They said that prosperity and economic development could be achieved by adopting new technologies in the livestock section.
 They said that Punjab government was taking steps for the promotion of livestock on priority basis.
They urged the contestants to adopt latest methods to enhance production of livestock.
Meanwhile, a donkey-cart race was held on Jhangi Wala Road in which Muhammad Abbas’s won first prize while Abdul Majeed’s secured second position and Atta Muhammad remained third.
