LEAs nab 123 suspects

OUR STAFF REPORTER KARACHI - Law enforcement agencies have arrested 123 more suspects during the surgical operation in the City. The security agencies raided Kharadar, University Road, Sarjani, Malir and other areas. Rangers and police personnel continued were conducting raids. Rangers women force personnel were also remained present throughout the operation. The operation was launched by the Rangers while local police and Frontier Constabulary providing the backup and sharing information. The entire areas were also cordoned off and all the routes leading to the operation sites were also being closed during the operation. Rangers conducted operations in Gulistan-e-Jauhar, Kharadar, Sarjani, Malir, Khokhrapar, Soldier Bazaar, Chanesar Goth and old City areas from where they arrested several suspects. The security agencies claimed to have arrested the workers of different political parties and criminals of different gangs including drug and gambling mafias. The accused were shifted to unknown place. The authorities also claimed to have recovered weapons including light and heavy as well as drug from their possessions. Rangers officials said that the operations were conducted over intelligence reports and most of the detainees had been handed over to the police for registering cases against them as they were found guilty during initial course of interrogation by the Rangers while some suspects were remained in the custody of the Rangers. In the operation on early Friday morning, above two dozen suspects were taken into custody during a raid in a residential complex namely Shumail Apartment near Metrological Department on University Road, Gulistan-e-Jauhar. Rangers personnel also searched an office of the political party in the 3 hours long operation. Rangers also conducted search operations against the criminals, gamblers and drug mafia in Kharadar Machi Miani Market, Ghaas Mandi, Mehmoodabad, Chanesar Goth and Jamshed Towns Solider Bazaar area from where they had detained nearly 58 suspects. However, nearly 27 more suspects were apprehended during separate raids in Sarjani, Malir and Khokhrapar on the first two days of Eid. According to the handout issued from Rangers head office, they recovered one 7 MM rifle, one 12 bore repeater, one 12 bore rifle, four TT pistols, 161 wine bottles and one motorcycle from their possession.
