RAWALPINDI - A police security guard allegedly made an attempt to rape a Chinese female civil engineer in the limits of Westridge Police Station the other day, sources said Friday. They said the police taking instant action arrested the said security guard, registered a case and sent him to Adyala Jail on judicial remand. They said a project manager of a Chinese company lodged a complaint with Westridge Police Station on Thursday that a policeman named Toseer Abbas, who was deputed on guarding the female Chinese engineer Yee at her residence, located near Fateh Jang, in the area of Police Check Post Hameedan, entered in her room while finding her alone and attempted to rape her. He appealed to police to take action against the security guard. It is pertinent to mention here that the Chinese engineers have been working on newly constructed Islamabad International Airport, Fateh Jang, and residing in a residential colony at Fateh Jang border, near Rawalpindi. The sources said news of the tragic incident spread like a jungle fire when heavy contingent of police comprising CPO Azhar Hameed Khokher, SSP Operations Yasin Farooq and SHO Westridge Police Station rushed to the scene and took the police security guard into custody. Sources said that in his initial statement, Toseer Abbas told the police that some Chinese were fully drunk. He said they beat him, adding that when some of his colleagues proceeded to rescue him, the Chinese female engineer accused him of attempting to rape her. Police registered a case against Tosser Abbas under sections 376/11, 452 and 155-C and D of Police Order 2002 and shifted him to Adyala Jail on judicial remand, the sources added. CPO Azhar Hameed Khokher, SSP (Operations) Yasin Farooq, SP Potohar Town Haroon Joya and SHO PS Westridge Mehar Zulfiqar did not receive their mobile phones when this scribe tried to contact them to get their point of view on the incident.
