Kidnappers of N MPA ‘bumped off’ in shootout

SARGODHA

Two outlaws, allegedly involved in the kidnapping of PML-N MPA Rana Jameel Hassan, were killed during a shootout near the same place from where they had kidnapped the MPA on May 30, 2014.
According to a spokesperson for the district police, the two accused — Alam Dost and Nisar Khan - were being escorted to Naseerabad in the Saddr Police van for recovery of ‘booty’ in a robbery case.
Suddenly three armed persons, riding a car, intercepted the police vehicle and fired gunshots on its tyres. They got the accused released from police and took away an SMG gun from the cops while fleeing the scene. Soon, the police in the entire district was alerted to the incident. The police cordoned off all the entry and exit points of the district. They, however, traced the ‘wanted car’ in the remit of Bhera Police. The armed accused opened fire on police and got shelter in a sugarcane field. While the driver left the car near Alipur Chowk and vanished in the nearby graveyard. The accused started firing from the sugarcane crop which the police retaliated and a shootout ensued. As the firing subsided and the police stepped forward, they found both the accused — Alam Dost and Nisar Khan - dead in the crop. The police claimed that they were killed by their accomplices before fleeing the scene. The police also found the snatched SMG gun near the dead bodies.
A source in the police said that the dead outlaws had been involved in case no. 277/13 registered by the Saddr police under section 392 PPC. Further investigation is in progress.
PML-N MPA from PP-174 Nanakana Sahib Rana Jameel Hassan was kidnapped for ransom when he was on the way to Islamabad from Motorway near Bhera Interchange in the Bhera Police precincts.
