TPP questions ECP’s credibility

MANDI BAHAUDDIN - The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) is under influence of major political parties, said Tameer-e-Pakistan Party (TPP) District leader Major (r) Sher Muhammad Gondal.
He stated this while talking to the media here the other day.
Gondal said the ECP was not abiding by its own rules as it first extended final date for submission of nomination papers and now it was changing stance on making nomination papers of the candidates accessible to voters.
He said that financially strong candidates were demanding the ECP for increase in election expenditure limit though it had already been fixed.
He further alleged that financial department officials themselves did not fulfil the requirements of article 162 and 163 of the constitution; therefore, he said, the No Objection Certificates (NOC’s) issued by them to candidates were doubtful. Expressing dissatisfaction over the ECP, he said that Election 2013 would end up as a mere drama staged to befool the voters and the same dynastic and traditional politicians would manipulate election results in their favour.
