60 banned outfits under watch to counter terrorism

ISLAMABAD- The National Assembly was informed today that sixty banned organizations were being kept under watch as part of efforts to counter terrorism in the country.

Briefing the House during question hour about the steps taken so far to cope with terrorist acts, Parliamentary Secretary for Interior, Maryam Aurangzeb said that NADRA is also assisting in providing identification services in matters of countering terrorism and crime. She said that all the unverified SIMs had been blocked and cellular mobile companies had initiated biometric verification system according to agreed time lines. She said that Jail Management System had been installed at Karachi Central Prison to identify prisoners and keep track of their visitors. About the situation in Karachi, the Parliamentary Secretary said enhanced coordination among law enforcement agencies has led to success of the ongoing action.
